Make your own data collection software for DP II and Digitech Professional

  • Develop custom programs in Versio Builder on your PC
  • Run programs in Versio DP on your DP II or Digitech Professional
  • Create as many different programs as you need
  • Create Versio programs for others using Versio DP

Versio Builder for Haglof Management Systems

dpVersio Builder is a software module in the Communication Suite in Haglof Management Systems. Versio Builder is used to create custom data collecting software that can later be downloaded to your DP II and Digitech Professional.

To compile and run the software, the software Versio DP needs to be installed in your DP II/Digitech Professional. Data from Versio DP software to PC is transferred as a tab separated text file or an XML file. These files can be opened and read or viewed in Windows Excel or Word or imported to a database.

The Versio program can be created in two levels: Header and Data. The levels can contain one or more variables such as name, date, coordinate and more. The Header level is primarily used to identify the file or survey.

VARIABLE TYPES

The software can contain different types of variables

NUMERIC

To store numeric data input from scale or caliper keys

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Min: Minimum entered value.
  • Max: Maximum entered value.
  • Step: Step to increase or decrease numeric value.
  • Scale: Set True if to input data with scale.
  • Counter: Automatically increase value with 1.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

DECIMAL

  • Scale: Set True if to input data with scale
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

TEXT

Variable to store text data input from scale or caliper keys.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Max Length: Max number of letters.
  • Scale: Set True if to input data with scale.
  • Bluetooth: Set True if to input data with Bluetooth
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

LIST

Store values that are predefined and selected in software.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • List: Name of different elements to select from in the list.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

DATA

Variable to store numeric data input from scale or caliper keys

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Scale: Set True if to input data with scale.
  • Date format: Choose if to display the date as YYYY/MM/DD or MM/DD/YYYY.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

SCALE

Settings for scale are used to read values, for example diameters, from the caliper scale and stored in variable.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Divisor: Division factor for scale.
  • Gator Eyes: If using Gator Eyes on caliper this adds 25,4 mm to the value.

YES/NO

A simple yes/no variable.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

CALCULATION

Type used for simple calculations kamagra canada.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Calculation: Type of calculation. (Arithmetic available).
  • Parameters: Enter parameters for calculation. For arithmetic mean, these are variables to calculate mean.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

VERTEX

Settings for Vertex starts the IR receiver on caliper to store values from Vertex instrument,

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Divisor: Division factor for Vertex values.
  • Bluetooth: Set True if to input data with Bluetooth.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

DIGITECH TAPE

Settings for the Digitech Tape and to connect the port.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Measure mode: Use Digitech Tape to measure diameters or lengths.
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

POSTEX

In settings for Postex, the caliper IR receiver starts. Values transmitted from Postex instrument are stored.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.
  • Divisor: Divisor to use on values collected with Postex.
  • Bluetooth: Set True if to input data with Bluetooth
  • Repeat value: If to repeat value from previous.

GPS

GPS variable to connect caliper Bluetooth to a Bluetooth equipped GPS receiver.

  • Name: Name of variable.
  • Caption: Name shown in caliper display.

Example: Versio program

VBI
Program for sample plot survey with four header variables and six data variables.

Header variables

  • Survey Name: Name of the plot
  • Date: Date
  • Survey Type: new or revisit
  • Coordinate: GPS coordinate of the plot

Data variables

    • Tree Position: Position from Postex
    • Species: Name selected from a list
    • Diameter: Diameter measured
    • Height: from a Vertex or manually entered
    • Grade: Set grade 1 to 5
    • Number: Automatically numbered

Some examples of software solutions

Haglöf Sweden has worked in software development for field and forestry applications since late 1980ies. Our software library is big and contains hundreds of programs for the DP II and Digitech Professional calipers, and other brands of handheld field computers. How we can help you improve your measurement results?

FOREST INVENTORY PROGRAM.

Connect a Bluetooth GPS and use the Digitech® Tape as a diameter tape with the Digitech Professional or DP II computer terminal. Store data as Tracts ID, GPS coordinates, cruiser, date, tract area, plot size, species name, defects, diameters, heights, and more. The program can be custom design according to what you need to input and record.

LOG SCALING PROGRAM.

Connect the DP II or Digitech® Professional Caliper and use the Digitech® Tape as a distance measuring tape. Store data as Ticket ID, date, species, defects, diameters, length, grade and more.

RESEARCH POSSESSION SAMPLING PROGRAM.

Connect a Bluetooth GPS and the Digitech® Tape as a diameter tape on the computer caliper. Use the Postex positioning instrument system to set tree coordinates in the plot. Store data as plot ID, date and plot GPS coordinate. Store species, diameters, heights and the X & Y coordinate on trees transferred from the Postex.
